Qualification Rules of Henley Women's Regatta

18th, 19th and 20th June 2010

 

The number of points permitted in specific events have been reviewed for 2010

and changed to reflect changes in the British Rowing Rules. Changes for 2010

are in red.

            

1) Events

 

A) Use of British Rowing points.

i)  Points

The Regatta uses a points system (using the British Rowing definition of points)

and also uses criteria for eligibility in certain events. The points limit will be the

total for the crew (excluding coxswains) in the relevant discipline.

ii)  Dates

The date for determination of points for the 2010 regatta will be 2nd of April 2010.

 

B) Criteria

i) Elite Events

·         Open to members of any eligible club.

·         Doubling up is permitted only as specified.

·         Composite crews allowed.

The Sports Council Cup – Elite 8+

A competitor may also compete in one of The Avril Vellacott Cup (E4-),

The Copas Cup (E4+) or The RedgraveTrophy (E2-)

The Avril Vellacott Cup – Elite 4-

A competitor may also compete in The Sports Council Cup (E8)

The Copas Cup – Elite 4+

A competitor may also compete in The Sports Council Cup (E8)

The Redgrave Trophy – Elite 2-

A competitor may also compete in The Sports Council Cup (E8)

The Borne Cup – Elite 4x

A competitor may also compete in The W. Peer Cup (E2x) or

The Haslam Trophy (E Lwt 2x)

The W. Peer Cup – Elite 2x

A competitor may also compete in The Borne Cup (E4x)

The George Innes Cup – Elite 1x

 

ii) Elite Lightweight Events

·         The crew average must not exceed 57kgs, and no competitor may

exceed 59kgs.

The Vesta Cup – Lwt 4-

The Rankine Trophy – Lwt 4x

A competitor may also compete in The Haslam Trophy (E Lwt 2x)

The Haslam Trophy – Lwt 2x

A competitor may also compete in one of either The Rankine Trophy (E Lwt 4x)

or The Borne Cup (E4x)

The Parkside Trophy – Lwt 2-

The Godfrey Rowsports Trophy – Lwt 1x

 

iii) Senior Events.

·         Open to members of any eligible club.

·         Composite crews allowed.

·         No crew shall contain any oarswoman who has, since 2005 inclusive, either:

a)     Represented her country in an Olympic Games, World Championship,

World Cup, Commonwealth Regatta, World University Rowing Championships,

World U23 Regatta or the European Championships in either discipline.

b)    Won an elite or elite lightweight (previously open), senior (previously club)

or senior lightweight event at HWR in either discipline in which 3 or more crews

raced.

·         No crew shall contain any oarswoman who has raced in any event at HRR,

in either discipline, since 2009 inclusive.

·         No crew shall contain any oarswoman who has won a gold medal in a senior or

under 23 event at the National Rowing Championships of Great Britain (or the

equivalent in any country) since 2007 inclusive in either discipline.

·         No doubling up is allowed.

·         Overseas crews are generally expected to enter Elite or Elite lightweight events,

but may be allowed to enter Senior after application to and agreement of the

committee. (Reference General Rule 2.5 – submission of rowing CV/resume.)

·         American Division 3 crews are eligible to enter these events.

·         Any composite crew containing British Rowing and Scottish Rowing (SR) athletes

will be subject to BR points.

iv) Intermediate Events

·         Composite crews are not allowed. (See General Rules Under Eligibility).

·         No crew shall contain any oarswoman, including any adaptive oarswoman who has

represented her country in an Olympic Games, World Championship, World Cup,

World University Rowing Championships, World U23 Regatta, Commonwealth

Regatta, Junior World Championships, or raced in the European Championships in

either discipline.

·         No crew shall contain any oarswoman, who has, since 2005 inclusive either:

a) Represented her country in a Coupe de la Jeunesse in either discipline.

b) Won any event at HWR in either discipline.

c) Won a BUCS Championship Gold in either discipline, in any event in which 4 or

more crews raced up to and including 2009.

d) Won a medal in either a senior or under23 event at The National Rowing Championships of Great Britain (or the equivalent in any country) in either discipline, irrespective of number of crews raced.

e) Raced in a senior event at a Home Countries regatta in either discipline.

f) Won a junior event at a Home Countries regatta in either discipline.

g) Raced in an event at HRR in either discipline.

h) Won a gold medal in a J18 event at The National Rowing Championships of

Great Britain or at The National Schools Regatta (or the equivalent in any country)

in either discipline.

·         No doubling up is allowed.

·         Overseas crews may not enter Intermediate Events.

·         Club Events:

o    Open to members of any one club (excluding academic institutions

and schools) affiliated to the BR, SR or WARA.

o    No crew shall contain any oarswoman who is in statu pupillari of an

academic institution or school and who has raced in the current season

(ie 1st September 2009 – 20th June 2010) for that club.

·         Academic Events:

o    Open to members of any one academic institution or school (excluding

clubs) affiliated to BR, SR or WARA.

o    Every Competitor shall be a registered internal student of the university,

school or college for the whole of the academic year 2009/10

o    Crews shall not contain any “Blue”.

v) School/Junior Events.

·         Open to members of any eligible club or academic institution.

·         Composite crews allowed.

·         Oarswomen must not have attained 18 years of age before 1st September 2009.

However, if a junior is in full time secondary education, then she is permitted to enter

these events as long as she has not attained her 19th birthday at the start of the event.

·         No doubling up is allowed.

·         No competitor may be in their J14 year or younger

The Peabody Cup – Sch/Junior 8+

The Groton School Challenge Cup – Sch/Junior 4+

The Bea Langridge Trophy – Sch/Junior 4x

The Rayner Cup – Sch/Junior 2x

The Di Ellis Trophy – Sch/Junior 1x

Sculler must be born before 1st September 1994

 

vi) J16 Events

·         Open to members of any eligible club or academic institution.

·         Composite crews allowed.

·         Oarswomen must not have attained 16 years of age before 1st September 2009.

·         No doubling up is allowed.

·         No competitor may be in their J14 year or younger

2) Seeding

i)  All events may be seeded.
