What are the revisions to the rules for 2008?
The rules affected are shown in the general rules and regs section on the web site and are highlighted in red. [14/05/2008]
What is the deadline for points and why is there one?
Points required for these events are those acquired as at 31st March 2008. This rule was made to allow coaches to plan ahead knowing that their crews could enter and win events before HWR as part of the training programme without altering the status of the crew and finding themselves ineligible for the event they had been training for. [14/05/2008]
How do I get to Henley?
Please see the maps and instructions on the "spectators" section of the web site. This also includes a map of car park positions. Please note we ask you to operate a one way system down Remenham lane as it is very narrow [14/05/2008]
Why does Henley Women's have its own classification of events and not offer the standard senior3, senior 2etc?
A background to the events is given under the rules and regulations section on the web site. If you have any more questions on this then please ask. [14/05/2008]
What are the entry fees for this year?
Entry fees are £18.50 per head excluding coxes ie 1x = 18.50, 2x/2- = £37, 4x/+/- = £74, 8's = £148 [14/05/2008]
Does my subscription include an Environment Agency Licence?
Yes
The regatta purchases enough weekend licences from the Environment Agency for all crews. So an additional payment to the Environment Agency is not required. [28/05/2007]
Is there a minimum age for a cox?
No. Coxes can be any age. However we do expect coxes to be able to navigate the river correctly and to be able to react to a dangerous situtaion quickly should it arise [07/02/2006]
Which way down Remenham Lane should I travel to get to the regatta?
HWR and the residents of the area request that all competitors and spectators follow a self imposed “one-way” system along Remenham Lane. The residents request that access to the regatta is from the top of Remenham Lane at the top of Remenham Hill. Please leave the regatta by proceeding along Remenham Lane, past Upper Thames Rowing Club and down into Henley. The car park will be designed so that this is the only way in and out of the car park for trailers and cars during the regatta.
Crews visiting at the weekend are particularly requested to follow this route to avoid large trailers meeting at narrow points along the lane.

Are camping facilities available at the regatta?
These are available in a dedicated area with toilet and shower facilities and are provided by the Copas Partnership. Bookings in advance or on arrival £15 per night
Price includes one car plus caravan or tent

I have a University exam on the Friday and have a race - can this be resheduled to Saturday to allow me to sit my exam and race?
We apologise but this will not be possible. This would mean that either your crew or your opposition would be required to race 3 times on the Saturday and whilst your crew may not mind it is unfair of us to insist that your opposition do so (if they were to beat you) when their opposition on Saturday will only have 2 races. However we are prepared to consider scheduling races at a later time on the Friday if we are able to - please contact us to discuss. [05/04/2005]
Will juniors be required to row on Friday
No rounds of any junior event will be held on Friday due to the public examination timetable. If a junior is entered in a non junior event then they must be prepared to race on Friday
However it is very likely that rounds of Intermediate and senior events may be held on the Friday. So juniors enetered in these events MAY be required to race on Friday as these are non junior events. In fairness to your opposition and the number of times they would have to race on the Saturday we are not able to retime a Friday race to Saturday to accomodate a junior who is in an intermediate crew or senior crew which is scheduled to race on the Friday. We apologise for this. [05/04/2005]
Is the schedule of racing available yet?
We are not able to draw up a schedule of racing until we know the number of entries in each event as this dictates the number of rounds required.
Whatever the entry finals and semifinals will be run on Sunday - there will be no exception to this.
We expect to hold 2 rounds of each event on each day with the first round expected to be a time trial if the number of entries is greater than 32 for senior events. Junior events will not have any rounds scheduled on the Firday due to public examinations.
It is impossible to move rounds of other events away from Friday for other exams We apologise for this but there is simply not enough time available on Saturday. [05/04/2005]
How can I watch a race from the umpires launch?
If you would like to watch a particular race from the umpires launch then you can book places with the start team. Seats can be booked at any time during the regatta. Please be at the start area 30 minutes before race time.
Each crew is issued with a voucher, which entitles a place to be reserved for the coach or another nominated person. This needs to be confirmed at least 40 minutes before the time of the race in order to reserve the seat. Otherwise it may be allocated to someone else.
A charge is made to follow races in the Umpire’s launch and only a limited number of places are available so please book early to ensure you can follow the race of your choice.

Why is the regatta course only 1500m long when the men race further?
The Environment Agency has limited the length of racing for Henley Women’s Regatta to 1500m for reasons of safety. They feel that crews returning to the enclosures along the Bucks side of the river in the navigation channel are at risk due to the increased motor cruiser traffic at weekends. Crews racing at the Royal proceed upstream on the course at suitable intervals in racing to avoid paddling in the navigation channel at the weekend. This is not possible at HWR as races are run every 4 or 5 minutes. [02/01/2005]
My crew has been drawn to race on the Berkshire station. Which one is this?
The stations are named after the two counties bordering the river. The regatta side of the river is named the Berkshire station and the far side of the river is named the Bucks station. [02/01/2005]
Is there a dress code for spectators?
There is no dress code for spectators who simply wish to view the regatta from the regatta site or anywhere else along the towpath. However any spectators who would like to become members of the Chairman’s Enclosure i.e. subscribers to the regatta (see subscribers pages) and view the racing from this area will be required to be smartly dressed whilst in the enclosure. No rowing kit or shorts will be allowed in the Chairman’s Enclosure. Picnics are also not allowed in the Chairman’s Enclosure. [02/01/2005]
